Breaking Free Weekend in Travelers Rest
Katie and I had the privilege and honor to travel with Doug and Sarah to Open Door Freedom Fellowship in Travelers Rest, SC for the Breaking Free event this past weekend. We also want to say thanks to everyone who prayed for Katie's health - she was well enough to sing and lead beautifully for all three sessions! The leadership and people there were so gracious, kind, and encouraging, and we were honored and blessed to be welcomed to lead and worship with them. If you are ever in the area on a Sunday, go!
As I reflect on the events of the past three days I see even more evidence of God's faithful goodness and love for me. In each of Doug and Sarah's messages, He pulled back more layers of the onion that is my life - revealing a little bit more of what I need to surrender to Him and where I need to forgive and to seek forgiveness. I am still processing through everything God spoke to me this weekend, but I can say wholeheartedly that I believe it was another marker planted in the ground along the path of what He has called Katie and I to do. It was inspiring and refreshing to hear Doug and Sarah share together - and they did so wonderfully. Their messages were like songs, themselves, in the way they shared and supported each other with fluid cadence. They are the "real deal" and their messages come from places of personal experience, Godly character, and transparency both on and off the stage. They also exhibit the Father's Love in a profoundly unassuming and unconditional manner I have rarely seen.
This experience reinforced our desire to continue to write and record the songs God is placing in our hearts and that He seems to have plans for them that we don't know or fully understand yet. It has also deepened our relationship with Doug and Sarah and the burning desire to help share the message of the Father's Love with the world. And, as I am sure will always be the case, I needed to hear what was shared as much as anyone else in the room.
