Getting Started

Welcome to our blog!

Katie and I are thrilled to have you along for this ride and we intend to keep you up to date on what we are in the midst of and what God is doing in our lives and through us in the lives of others!

The past few years have been a whirlwind of ups and downs and in-betweens, but we can look back and see God's hand at work in and through us individually and as a couple.

God has refreshed us and sustained us - constantly reminding us of His unconditional and unfailing love. We have a burning desire to share His love with others as we walk out the calling we believe He has for our lives.

From the beginning, our relationship has been centered around faith and worship, actually meeting through the worship team at a church in Fredericksburg, VA. Since that time, God has continually stoked a fire in our hearts to see His Church worship in Spirit and truth, and  to understand and experience our Heavenly Father's love in a personal way. As Katie says, we want to see people fall madly in love with their Father and to have a healthy, biblical understanding of His love for us.

This same desire is shared by Shiloh Place Ministries, which makes it a perfect fit. Shiloh Place exists to help people understand their identity in Christ as an unconditionally loved son or daughter of God, and to get a solid grasp on the truth that "God's love is a gift, not a reward." The message is one of hope, love, and freedom so many are desperate to hear in a world characterized by performance and improvement with little time to rest. Even in ministry, there can be tremendous pressure to always do better, be more to more people, and although we know it is impossible - to please everyone all the time. This will wear us out physically, emotionally, and spiritually if we let it distract and overwhelm us. Shiloh Place has been taking the message of the Father's love to the world for over 25 years, and I am grateful that I was personally impacted by that message as a teenager, well before I knew Shiloh Place existed. It is an honor and a blessing to get to help share this message with others now, all these years later.

As I close, I want to ask you to let us know how we can pray for you and to share some of our immediate needs and prayer requests.

1. A car. Our 2000 Toyota Avalon has served us well but now needs repairs which would cost more than it's current value - if it didn't need repairs at all. We have been a one-car family since I sold my Durango in 2008, so having that one car be reliable is fairly critical.

2. A house. In April of this year, the condo we rented for two years was sold and the hunt for new digs began. Rentals in our area have increased over the past few years by around 30% so we are looking to purchase a house with a low or no-down payment loan. We are currently staying with Katie's parents and brother until we find a place. This will be our first home purchase, which is both exhilarating and a bit intimidating.

3. Inspiration and creativity. We are writing new worship songs and are in the process of recording them. We have been privileged to lead one of these songs at several Shiloh Place schools and at our home church, and we have plans to finish and share many more. We also have a goal to make these songs available online as soon as we can.

How can we pray for you?
