Chapter 1
Dear Friends and Family,
Katie and I hope you are well and are enjoying the summer weather! While there is no longer much of an off-season here (this is now one of the fastest growing counties in the country), the buzz and excitement of summer vacationers, events and activities across the Grand Strand is growing by the day. The past several years have been quite an experience for us transitioning from our lives in Virginia to working in ministry positions in Myrtle Beach. Throughout the ups and downs, God has been and always is good and faithful. We have shared some of what has been going on but we wanted to send out an update about another new and exciting chapter.
Katie and I work part-time at Seacoast Vineyard Church in Myrtle Beach; Katie is the administrative assistant and assistant facilities director and I am the media and tech pastor. Katie also works a few hours a week at a clothing store and I work as a freelancer in video production and graphic design. Working in ministry is both challenging and rewarding, and we both feel a strong call on our lives to serve God and his Church through the gifts he has given us with worship and creativity. We have begun to write and record several worship songs and are involved in the creative aspects of what happens at Seacoast Vineyard.
About four years ago I met Doug Crew at a technical consulting meeting with an elder at Seacoast Vineyard. Katie and I became fast friends with Doug and his wife, Sarah. Soon after, we were invited to lead worship during a school Doug and Sarah’s ministry, Shiloh Place, was holding at Seacoast Vineyard. Katie and I were excited about this opportunity, and the experience was as refreshing for us as we hope it was for the students. Since then we have continued to lead worship for their schools that are hosted locally and are blessed by and amazed at what God is doing through them as they impart our Heavenly Father's transforming love, strengthen families and ministries, and release healing, restoration, and salvation to the nations.
As our relationship with Doug and Sarah's family has grown, so has a sense of calling to work more closely with Shiloh Place Ministries. The opportunity before us is to step into part-time work with Shiloh Place in the areas of worship, technical and creative production, and administration while continuing to work in our part-time positions at Seacoast Vineyard Church. Katie and I will be working 15 hours a week, each, with Shiloh Place.
We invite you to join us on this adventure and ask you to pray about partnering with us financially and/or prayerfully to surround us as we serve. All of our pay from SPM will come through tax-deductible donations to our account with Shiloh Place. We are fully giving ourselves to build a team around us and praying that we can do that in the next six to eight weeks. You can learn more about Shiloh Place Ministries by visiting shilohplace.org. You can also support us financially through the website by clicking the “donate” tab, following the prompts which include designating your gift to “Chip and Katie Holt” and defining it as one-time or reoccurring to set up a monthly gift. Our goal is to raise $3,000 in one-time up front gifts and $2,000 in reoccurring monthly gifts. The $3,000 will go toward some immediate needs, specifically to include the replacement of our only vehicle which requires repairs that would cost more than the car's current value.
We look forward to sharing this journey with those of you who feel called to share in it with us and we will follow up with you in the next few weeks. We are also posting more details about what we are up to and more specifics about how you can support and pray for us at this blog.
God Bless,
Chip and Katie
